And Just Because:

I got into an argument with a girlfriend inside of a tent.  That's a bad place for an argument, because then I tried to walk out and slammed the flap.  How are you supposed to express your anger in this situation?  Zipper it up really quick?

Somebody told me it was frightening how much topsoil we are losing each year, but I told that story around the campfire and nobody got scared.

Imparting Faith

April 10th, 2012 | Announcements, Events, Featured, Mesa Church Blog, News | 0 Comments

Churches and families are in a cycle of not successfully passing down faith to the next generation.

You are invited to an event at the

Mesa Church of Christ

More than two-thirds of youth who faithfully attend church growing up, reject faith just a couple of years after high school. That is shocking! Even though we are facing a huge problem, we stand in a unique position to offer a real solution to a problem of this magnitude. We need our whole congregation to rally in this plan to battle the deterioration of faith in this generation.

April 22nd Sermon: Unbelief in the Church

Many young people today are walking away from their faith and our church and our families are in a unique position to prevent it.

April 29th – Joel Singleton Speaking

9:30 am Class

All adult classes will be combined to talk about how Imparting Faith really works. We will give out "Imparting Faith Blueprint" books outlining the plan and resources to help everyone in our congregation implement this plan in their home.

10:30 am Sermon: Imparting Faith

Where did you learn faith? Can you share your faith with others?

5:00 pm Discussion: How Can I Pass Down Faith?

Whether you have children or not, we all have a role in passing down faith. We will discuss how you can pass your faith to others.

May 6th Sermon: Who is my Family?

We can all be a resource for families and children to grow up believing in God. We can be the example they follow.

Imparting Faith Blueprint:

The "Imparting Faith" book serves as a guide to show how to implement faith in your family within this culture. This is not just for the traditional two-parent families. It applies to everyone, whether you are single with no kids, divorced, have a blended family or are a grandparent with lots of grandchildren.

This is a pivotal moment in our culture where the church and home have the opportunity to recapture the youth of this generation. We must plan ahead, stay disciplined, and work together.

Family Circle Outing

February 7th, 2012 | 4Sixteen, Announcements, Events, Fun | 0 Comments

The 4Sixteen family circle outing is coming up soon! We will be at South Mountain again but in a different spot than we normally are. It is a pretty sweet and secluded area. A lot of people don't know it exists. There is a big fire pit with benches back in between two of the mountains right off of Holbert trail. We will meet at 4:00 to go hiking. However, we will be hiking up and down this time so be prepared for that. The trail is about 2 miles (or 4 miles round trip). We have actually done this hike as a group before but it was combined with some other trails. This will be about the same distance as we have done in the past since we are going up and down but the trail up will be shorter. Make sure to dress appropriately for the hike. It certainly isn't that difficult but you will want good hiking shoes. Also, it isn't hot out right now but you will want some water for the hike. Below is the key information and map! Tell your friends and I will see you there!

What: Hiking, cook-out, singing, and campfire!

When: February 19, 2012 – Hiking starts at 4:00 pm sharp and cookout and campfire starts at 6:00 pm

Where: Parking at base of Holbert trail. Hike into Holbert trail about 200 yards to fire pit.

Hiking Hieroglyphic Trail

November 9th, 2011 | 4Sixteen, Events | 0 Comments

Well for those of you that survived my last hike and are still interested in going on another one then here is your chance. This is actually a really easy hike but it is beautiful this time of year. The trail is only 1.5 miles each way and gains only 588 feet of elevation. The trail gains elevation slowly but steadily. My favorite part of the trail is on the way down. You really get some amazing views.

If you live West of the church building and would like to ride with me then I will be at the church building at 7:00 am Saturday the 12th of November. I have 4 seats open if we really cram in. Otherwise, if you live east of the building or just want to drive on your own then you can meet us at the trailhead at 8:00 am. There is a map and directions below. I hope to see you there!

Directions:
1)Take US 60 past Apache Junction to Gold Canyon
2)Turn North(left) onto Kings Ranch Road and go approximately 5 miles
3)Turn East(right) onto Baseline and go approximately .3 miles
4)Turn North(left) onto Mohican and go approximately .3 miles
5)Turn West(left) onto Valley View
6)It will turn into Whitetail Road
7)Whitetail will bring you to Cloudview
8)Turn East(right) onto Cloudview and follow it to the end where the trailhead is

With so many great costumes, what could be better? Well, how about the girls' lovely food? That's right, this event was the inverse of last year's Guys cook for the Girls event. (We guys will have to figure out a way to one-up you ladies!) But until then, you know what that means! A new photo slide show! Check it out below.
