Education at Mesa

The apostle Paul reminds the Christians in Ephesus that God has raised up leaders in the church “to equip the saints for the work of ministry” (Eph. 4:12). This is what our Education Department is all about. The following are the areas of Christian education available here at Mesa.

Children’s Education (Village Del Soul)

We use the Journeyland curriculum and developed “Village del Soul”, an immersive environment with uniquely decorated themed rooms dedicated to Bible stories, plays, and activities for our K-6th graders.

Bible Classes

Sundays – 9:30am
Auditorium – 1st Peter w/ Ashby Camp
In 1 Peter, Peter is writing to encourage persecuted Christians to endure in the face of their difficulties. “In a phrase, Peter calls on his readers to exhibit ‘piety under pressure’ as a means of glorifying God and of witnessing to a hostile but watchful world” (Carson and Moo, 636). Join us as we explore this message of the Spirit.
Room 104 – To Do and Teach w/ Dave Verret

This class is based on Ezra 7:10, “For Ezra set his heart to STUDY the law of the Lord, and to DO it and to TEACH his statutes and ordinances in Israel.” This is an on-going 29 lesson study with the aim of providing a study of biblical truths and Christian doctrines for new and seasoned Christians. Class notes are handed out for each lesson providing a reference source, in addition to the Bible, helping to teach others… to STUDY, to DO and to TEACH. Topics planned for Sept/Oct/Nov are: Instrumental Music in Worship; Stewardship and Giving; Prayer; Preaching and Teaching; Church Discipline; the Characteristics and Role of an Elder; the Characteristics and Role of a Deacon; The Characteristics and Role of a Preacher and The Role of Each Member.

Room 105 – Discovering God Through Women of the Bible w/ Jimmy Fox
We spend much of our Bible study time on the great male leaders of God’s people, hoping to model our lives and faith after them, but the majority of Christians will never aspire to be those leaders! Let’s not overlook some of God’s greatest servants! There is so much to learn about God from the faithful women of the Bible. *Women have strengths in character that men lack. *Women tend to be the spiritual back bone in families today.
God reveals so much about his character and His will for us as servants through the faithful women of God.
Wednesdays – 7:00pm
Auditorium – Short 10-15 minute Devo
Devotional will starts at 7pm then afterward we will split to separate classes.
Room 104 – Book of James w/ Andrew Sterling
James, the brother of Jesus, wrote this letter to the dispersed Jewish Christians. He was the leader of the church in Jerusalem who most likely came to believe that his brother, Jesus, was actually the son of God after Jesus’ resurrection. James taught, as did Paul, that faith saves you, but James was a strong beleiver in showing faith by works, stating, “Faith without works is dead”.
Room 105 – Ladies Class w/ Tracy Bouley
We will be teaching a DVD series called “One Thousand Gifts A Dare To Live Fully Right Where You Are” by Ann Voskamp. How do we find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama, and daily duties? Begin to find joy in what really matters. In this five-session video-based study, Ann encourages participants to take on the life changing discipline of journaling God’s gifts – to really look at life and find the good in it. Embark on this personal, honest, and fresh exploration of what it means to be deeply fulfilled, wholly happy, and finally fully alive.
